My big blast

Tripawds is a user-supported community. Thank you for your support!

Well yesterday I got my first big blast of Doxorubicin. I got sent home with Pepto Bismol caplets, Cerenia and Metroclopramide just incase I get sick in the next few days. Here’s hoping I don’t cuz I don’t like the names of these drugs can only imagine what they taste like! I was a bit late getting out to come home cuz I had to stop and give all the vet techs cuddles before I left. I sure do like those girls!!! Today I am curled up in front of the fireplace with my Dad who has a bad cold now from getting soaked watching the torch relay yesterday. Tonight we are all excited for the Olympic opening ceremonies! A good way to forget that I am supposed to be sick!

    Hi Teyha!
I hope you don’t get sick from the doxorubicin. This will be a good weekend to sit with your pawrents and watch the Olympics on TV. That’s what I plan on doing! My mom and I continue to hold you and your pawrents in our hearts (and my paws) and are hoping that all goes well. Keep fighting!
Lots and lots of hugs, and tons of pawsitive thoughts to my buddy across the border…

PS – is your haircut growing out? we’d love to see pics! Holly’s hair is finally beginning to look like hair and not peach fuzz lately, although it’s still really short where she was shaved for her surgery. 🙂

Hey Tehya – you are a brave and sweet girl and Josh and I miss you! Glen and I are coming to Vancouver in August and I hope we can see you and Dave and Dar then. It’s a good thing you can’t read – side effects are things that might happen, not things that will happen. Keep showing your mom and dad how happy you are to be with them every day – that will help their sadness. And if they do get sad, and if your mom cries, just know it’s because they love you SO much! You are a lucky girl to have people like Dave, Dar, Ken, Donna, Lindsay and Lauren and so many more who love you so much!
Love to you and your pawrents from Glen, Roberta & Josh

Yes, those cheomtherapy drugs can taste terrible. It was so bad, that I would not eat for Dad. However, he used a beef flavored doggy toothpaste to brush my teeth which did refreshen my mouth. After that, I would eat some very bland R/D kibbles. Dad did stuff me during much of those two months and got pretty good during the process. As long as he got it past the tip of my tounge before he let go, I would not taste it. The best was in the far right corner beside the tongue and not on it. He ground up kibbles, added chicken broth and cottage cheese. While that may sound good, nothing tasted good. We will still hope that you do not have these problems, but wanted to have a Plan B just incase.
Dad Says that he is still pulling for you and will have you in his prayers.

Hi Holly and Mom! Yes Tehya’s hair is growing back slowly. I will take a picture but it probably won’t look a lot different on the camera. We did notice however that it is starting to grow curly on her chest area. It’s coming in a bit lighter as well and they did warn us that the chemo would do that! Thanks so much for all the love that is being sent from south of the border.

    Hi Tehya!

We really hope that chemo stuff doesn’t make you sick! When you can’t even pronounce the drugs it really doesn’t make you want to take them! Just take it easy and rest up! Hopefully you will be back to your playful self in a couple days or less!

Take good care of your Dad if he isn’t feeling well! There is nothing better than love from a golden retriever when you are under the weather!

We can’t wait to see new pictures of you!

    XOXO

    Hi Teyha,
Must be so cool to be at the Olympics right now. Sounds like a great way to spend the weekend all cuddled up with your pawrents. Mackenzie’s hair is starting to grow back curly too. One side is curly and the other side long and silky. Kind of makes for an interesting looking Golden (but still pretty!) Hope you don’t have any of those side effects from the chemo – keep us posted!
